Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- The body of a 27-year-old youth who had fallen into a 355-metre-deep precipice at the Ududumbara 'Punchi Lokantha' viewpoint was recovered by Sri Lanka Army Commando troops yesterday (16).Download Travel Guides

The 17-member Commando Regiment team was deployed following information received by the Central Province Office of the Disaster Management Centre. The team had left Nuwara Eliya at around 6.00 a.m. and reached the area to begin the recovery operation.

Using specialised techniques, the troops recovered the body at around 12.30 p.m. despite the difficult mountainous terrain.

The body was later handed over to the Ududumbara Police for further legal proceedings.
