Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena yesterday (30) ordered the forfeiture of Rs.40 million in bail money deposited by veteran cricketer Aravinda de Silva and his wife on behalf of the wife of Kapila Chandrasena, former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, in connection with the alleged US$ 2 million fraud and corruption that occurred during the re-fleeting of SriLankan Airlines with new wide-body aircraft.
The Magistrate issued this order while delivering the ruling regarding the non-forfeiture of the bail money.The court rejected a request made by the guarantors seeking relief, where they stated that the second suspect refused to return to Sri Lanka for her safety and that she is currently beyond their control....
