SriLanka, Sept. 30 -- Showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in the Uva, Eastern and Central provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa and Mullaittivu districts, after 1.00 p.m. today (30), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is possible at some locations in these areas.

A few showers may also occur in the coastal areas of the Western Province and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

Misty conditions are expected in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the early hours.

The Department said atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island from October 1.
