22nd Amendment Gazetted by Justice Minister
Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which seeks to extend the retirement age of judges of the apex courts, has been published in the Government Gazette on the instructions of Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara.Constitutional Law & Civil Rights
According to this Bill, the Article 107 of the Constitution has been amended to increase the retirement age of Supreme Court and Appeal Court judges.The Bill mentions that the judges of the Supreme Court shall retire at the age of 67, while judges of the Court of Appeal shall retire at 65.
