'Fuel price reduction insufficient'
Sri Lanka, July 1 -- The reduction in fuel prices implemented by the Government in light of falling global crude oil prices is entirely insufficient, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Member of Parliament Rohana Bandara said.
He said international crude oil prices have fallen to the level which existed prior to the US-Iran war. Against this backdrop the price reduction is not sufficient at all.
He also charged that the Government has caused severe distress to farmers by seizing control of farmers' organisations.
"The farmer has been placed under immense hardship today because the Government has failed to provide a fair price for paddy. The Government is bringing various topics to the forefront merely to cover up its own incompetence."
