Nairobi, April 10 -- A supremacy battle between the Bungoma County Executive and the County Assembly has exploded into a political crisis after Governor Kenneth Lusaka sacked his entire Cabinet.

Mr Lusaka sent home the 10 members of the County Executive Committee (CECs), the County Attorney, and the County Secretary in a move he said was aimed at safeguarding the integrity of county institutions, even as the County Assembly had already set the stage for confrontation after tabling a motion to impeach the officers.

"All members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect," stated a statement form the governor dated April 9.
