Nairobi, April 9 -- Stanley Amalemba Ambeyi, a Kenyan in the US without documents, has just been sentenced to 18 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm in Birmingham, Alabama.

According to the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, Catherine Crosby, Ambeyi, a 39-year-old Kenyan, pleaded guilty in November 2025 to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm.

This has led to the US District Judge Madeline Haikala sentencing Ambeyi to 18 months in prison on Monday, April 6.

According to court documents, on April 11, 2025, an officer with the Birmingham, Alabama, Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Ambeyi.
