The silent epidemic stealing Africa's memory
Nairobi, April 13 -- Africans are losing their memory at an unprecedented rate due to chronic lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and diabetes and a lingering infectious disease burden. This is according to research published in the East African Health Research Journal.
This research, conducted by the University of Dodoma, offers a sobering first look at the prevalence of pre-dementia conditions, analysing data from 28 studies across nine African nations and involving over 26,000 participants.
