Nairobi, April 26 -- An afforestation contract between the Ministry of Energy and the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has raised questions over the utilisation of Sh7 million, with MPs now demanding a detailed breakdown of the expenditure.
The matter is contained in an audit report currently under review by the Special Funds Committee.
According to the report, the Ministry of Energy entered into an agreement with KFS for an afforestation project targeting various community forests.
Financial records show that Sh10.4 million was allocated for the project. However, only Sh3.3 million was spent directly on afforestation activities leaving Sh7 million unaccounted for in terms of its intended purpose.
