LSK moves to secure seat in high-stakes cybercrime law appeal
Nairobi, May 12 -- The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has sought to be recognised as a substantive party in the upcoming appeal at the Supreme Court over the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act (CMCA), arguing that its involvement is crucial for both public interest and the proper administration of justice.
In the suit originally filed at the High Court in 2018, LSK challenged the CMCA, asserting its constitutional and statutory duty to protect fundamental rights in Kenya's digital space.
However, on December 3, 2018, the High Court closed LSK's file and added it as an interested party to another case filed by the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE).
