UPDATE, April 26 -- TENSION IN Kisumu as police lob teargas to disperse clashing pro and anti-Linda Mwananchi youths at Kachok and Ringroad Nyalenda; Governor Orengo warns against rally disruption.

Tension gripped parts of Kisumu Town on Sunday morning as uncertainty and political rivalry intensified ahead of the Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) highly anticipated Linda Mwananchi rally.

The atmosphere was particularly charged in Kondele, Carwash, Kibos and Nyalenda areas, where the rally team was expected to make appearances, as well as in Riat, near Kisumu International Airport, where leaders were scheduled to land before proceeding to various venues.
