From Covid to Hantavirus: Is Kenya any better prepared for the next pandemic
Nairobi, May 13 -- When the first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in Kenya on March 13, 2020, former Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced stringent measures to help reduce its transmission.
He stated that all Level 4 and Level 5 health facilities in the country would be transformed into isolation units, funded by a World Bank project called the Kenya Covid-19 Health Emergency Project.
The project also supported the strengthening of coordination, rapid response, contact tracing, and case management activities; the expansion of testing capacity; the enhancement of temperature screening and hand-washing capabilities at all Level 4 and Level 5 public health facilities; and risk communication and community engagement efforts...
