Court upholds vehicle inspection rules, rejects activist petition
Nairobi, April 15 -- The High Court has dismissed a petition seeking to stop the rollout of new motor vehicle inspection rules, dealing a blow to activists who claimed the process excluded public participation.
In its judgment, the court ruled that the government followed the law in developing the Traffic (Motor Vehicle Inspection) Rules, 2025, and provided adequate opportunities for public input.
The case was filed by the Road Safety Association of Kenya against the Transport Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary for Transport, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the Attorney General.
