Nairobi, April 27 -- The Secretary General of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu), Francis Atwoli, has claimed that some politicians are now using church pulpits to preach hate and division, which he says could plunge the country into chaos if not controlled.
Speaking during the Labour Day thanksgiving service at ACK St. Stephen's Church on Sunday, Mr Atwoli said that the church should not be a venue for spreading hate even as the country gets ready for the 2027 general elections.
In his speech ahead of the Labour Day celebrations, which will be marked on Friday, May 1, in Vihiga County, the Cotu boss stated that the church should be an agent of peace and stability amid the ongoing political tension.
