Nairobi, April 7 -- Popular comedian and YouTuber Sammy Kioko has broken his silence after a brutal assault that left him hospitalised, saying the overwhelming support he received from Kenyans carried him through one of the darkest moments of his life.

Speaking as he left Nairobi West Hospital after nine days, Kioko said he drew strength from a community that refused to abandon him even as he battled pain, uncertainty and frustration over unpaid dues.

"I carried a voice that refused to stay silent," he said. "Through interviews, pain, and attacks, I faced the unthinkable, yet never felt alone."
