Uganda, April 21 -- The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Mr Frank Tumwebaze, has directed Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) to take a more proactive role in ensuring agricultural extension workers deliver services directly to farmers, warning against complacency as Uganda pushes for increased productivity and climate resilience.

Speaking in Kampala on Tuesday during the handover of 69 vehicles and 1,034 motorcycles to districts under the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Project, Tumwebaze said extension workers are central to transforming Uganda's largely subsistence farming sector into a more commercial and knowledge-driven system.
