Uganda, May 11 -- Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa has described the Kampala Metropolitan Transmission System Improvement Project as "very critical," saying without it, power cannot be distributed effectively across the capital region.

The Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area remains Uganda's main economic hub, driving industrial, commercial and urban growth. With electricity demand rising due to industrial parks, commercial expansion, digital innovation and rapid urbanisation, the project is seen as strategically important for the country.
