Uganda, April 12 -- Armed warriors have staged two separate robberies in Kotido District, making off with cash and merchandise from shops.

The first Friday robbery was staged in Kotido municipality, where Shs500,000 was taken and merchandise whose value is not yet known. The other robbery was staged in Panyangara trading centre, in Panyangara sub county, robbing shops and items before leaving several residents assaulted.

Mr Mike Longole, the police spokesperson for Mt Moroto region, said that police are investigating the Friday night incidents closely, adding that all the groups that staged the robberies were armed with guns.
