Uganda, April 16 -- In a move to ease chronic congestion and improve student safety, Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) will launch a new passenger train service for school children on Friday, April 17, along the Kampala-Mukono route.
The pilot service will transport students from Seroma High School in Mukono to designated drop-off points in Kampala, including Bweyogerere, Namanve and Kireka, where parents will pick up their children.
The arrangement means parents and schools along this route will no longer need to drive to Seroma or other schools, removing dozens of vehicles from the heavily congested morning school run.
