Uganda, April 29 -- The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) and other sister security agencies have launched intensified patrol operations along the Uganda-DRC border in Kisoro District following growing public concern over rising insecurity and cross-border attacks by suspected FDLR rebels.
Residents in border areas, particularly in Nyabwishenya sub-county, Mupaka Town Council, and Nkuringo Town Council, are living in fear, with many claiming that FDLR rebels frequently cross into Ugandan territory to carry out kidnappings and robberies.
