Ugandan school wins global prize for inclusive education
Uganda, May 12 -- In a region where fewer than half of children master basic literacy and numeracy, Suubi Community Schools in Mubende has shown what's possible when every child gets a chance to learn.
On May 12, the school was named winner for Inclusive Education in the $1 million Global Schools Prize 2026, taking home $50,000 and a Global Schools Prize Badge for innovation, impact, and opening doors to learning for children often left behind.
The recognition puts Suubi among the world's most transformative schools. Chosen from nearly 3,000 nominations across 113 countries, it is also one of the Top 10 finalists for the overall Global Schools Prize.
