Uganda, May 11 -- The Ugandan government has released two leaders of the long-distance truck drivers, a day after their colleagues blockaded Uganda's border entry points with Kenya, causing a transport paralysis.

Truck drivers were parked over 4,000 vehicles protesting the arrest of their leaders, including Mr Sudi Kauli Mwatela, the chairperson of the Long Distance Drivers Union, by Ugandan security agencies in northern Uganda. No trucks entered Uganda through the border points of Malaba, Busia, Suama, and Lwakhakha, creating a supply chain shortage and losses to both the owners of the cargo and governments.

The Uganda Police Force spokesman, Mr Rusoke Kituuma, confirmed the release of the leaders of the truck drivers.
