Uganda, April 8 -- Health workers in the Teso sub-region are on alert following the discovery of 14 new cases of Tuberculosis (TB) during a mobile clinic screening. These are part of 482 people who turned up for the drive held last month.

The TB Clinic Van has been stationed at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, offering free testing services.

Sr Ruth Frances Ajoket, the TB and Leprosy Coordinator for Teso, told this Publication that the 14 people have been enrolled in treatment, with efforts to trace their contacts and family members underway.

"We shall be getting even more TB cases because they have been living with their families, coughing, so there is a possibility that there are other people at home having TB," she explained.
