Uganda, April 15 -- Police have arrested the taxi driver who allegedly knocked dead Kikuube District Chairperson, Peter Banura, and had been on the run since the April 4 incident.

The suspect, identified as Tom Mugabirwe, driver of taxi registration number UBQ 853E, was arrested on Monday evening in Moyo District, West Nile, where he had been hiding since the incident occurred at Butyamba Cell in Kikuube Town Council.

According to the Albertine Region Police Public Relations Officer, SP Julius Hakiza, the suspect is currently being transported back to Kikuube District to record a statement.

The case file will later be submitted to the Resident State Attorney for guidance on the charges to be preferred.
