Uganda, April 15 -- Prosecutors in a case where nine lives were lost in a school fire at St. Bernard Secondary School Manya, Rakai District, in 2018 have asked for a special criminal session for the trial of the suspects.

Appearing before Masaka resident Judge Victoria Nakintu Katamba on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the prosecution told the court that the witness they were supposed to present did not make it to court as expected and asked for adjournment of the matter to the next convenient session.

State prosecutor Mr Michael Wakosese told the court that the state has over 36 witnesses in the case, a number which may not be handled within the remaining court session period without causing interference with the other ongoing cases.
