Sovereignty or control?
Uganda, April 9 -- At a time when diaspora remittances have reached record highs, Uganda's proposed Sovereignty Bill threatens to undermine one of the country's most reliable economic lifelines. Uganda is once again at a crossroads between policy and prudence. The proposed "Sovereignty Bill," presented as a safeguard against foreign interference, may instead become a tool that punishes the very citizens who sustain the country's economy from abroad.
