Uganda, April 10 -- Soroti University is set to establish a museum as part of efforts to preserve and showcase the Teso region's rich cultural and historical heritage for future generations.
Professor John Robert Ikoja, the vice chancellor of Soroti University, said that they will document and protect traditions, which he says are at risk of disappearing.
Leaders say the proposed museum will also serve as a centre for learning, cultural pride, and community development.
"Modernisation and intermarriages are slowly washing away our cultural values," Professor Ikoja cautioned.
He emphasised the urgent need to preserve oral traditions, noting that elders hold vital indigenous knowledge that must be recorded and passed on.
