Uganda, April 24 -- The government is preparing to roll out soft skills training for both practicing health workers and students in training, in a move officials say will address patient complaints and improve care.
Speaking at the Second National Conference on Soft Skills and Self-Care in Kampala on April 24, Dr Joseph Okware, Director Health Services, Governance and Regulation at the Ministry of Health Uganda, said the initiative aims to transform attitudes within the profession.
".while many patients recover medically, their experiences in health facilities are often negatively affected by how they are treated by staff. Health workers must not only be technically competent but also humane in how they handle patients," said Okware.
