Uganda, May 3 -- Police in Lira City have arrested six youths to aid investigations into the alleged gang rape of a 20-year-old woman, with four other suspects still at large.

The incident is reported to have occurred on May 2, 2026, at Owiti Cell in Amuca Ward, Lira City West Division, where the suspects allegedly waylaid the victim and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

According to police, the victim, a resident of Aminyanga Cell in the same ward, had been returning with three friends from a hangout at Grand Paradise Hotel along the Lira-Kamdini Highway when they were attacked at around 1:00 am.

One of the survivors, Naume Aceng, told police the group was ambushed by more than 10 men.
