Uganda, April 12 -- The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has asked the Chief Justice Flavian Zeija to withdraw the planned mobile court arrangement for the Ggaba toddler murder trial and relocate the proceedings to a conventional High Court setting, warning that the current setup risks undermining the accused's right to a fair hearing.

The lawyers' body says that while mobile courts are intended to enhance access to justice in areas without established court facilities, holding the criminal trial at the scene of the alleged crime, coupled with live broadcasting and a heavy public presence, could prejudice both the accused and the integrity of the judicial process.
