Uganda, April 21 -- Police have detained a kindergarten director on charges of rash and negligent act following the death of a four-year-old pupil after he fell into a saucepan of hot tea that had been left in the classroom unattended to.

The victim who sustained fatal burns was in middle class at Spotless Kindergarten and Day-care in Kawanda, Kivulu, Nabweru Division, Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District.

"The child reportedly fell into a saucepan containing hot tea, sustaining severe burns to the lower part of the body and later succumbed to the injuries," said Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala.The boy is said to have died on April 15, 2026 at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital where he had been admitted foll...
