Uganda, April 29 -- A total of 4,996 junior prison officers have been promoted countrywide, the Uganda Prisons Service Spokesperson, Senior Commissioner of Prisons and Service, Frank Baine Mayanja, announced on Tuesday.

Mr Baine said in a statement that this is part of the service's promotion calendar, which comes after every three years, noting that the same arrangement for senior officers will come out soon.

"We have released promotions for junior officers; the ones for senior officers are also coming soon," Mr Baine said.
