Uganda, May 8 -- Police in Busoga sub-region, eastern Uganda, have intensified security deployments and warned against protests or acts of unrest ahead of President Museveni's swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 12.

Authorities said both overt and covert operations had been activated across major towns in eastern Uganda to prevent possible disruptions during the inauguration period.

ASP Michael Kasadha, the Regional Police Spokesperson for Busoga East, said security agencies had heightened surveillance and were monitoring individuals suspected of planning disturbances.
