Police probe alleged negligence at Bududa hospital after expectant mother's death
Uganda, May 11 -- Grief and outrage gripped Bududa General Hospital after expectant mother Jenifer Nasaka, 31, died during childbirth. Her family and local leaders allege that medical staff delayed treatment while demanding payment - a claim now under police investigation.
Nasaka, a resident of Bunasaba Central village in Nalwanza Sub-County, spent three days at the facility before she died. A family member, who asked not to be named, said staff demanded money before attending to her. "Because the family did not have the money, the patient's care was delayed, which we believe contributed to her death," the relative said.
