Uganda, May 1 -- Police in Oyam District have arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly killing his father during a domestic dispute over a mobile phone.

The deceased, Simon Okeng, 49, a resident of Zaire Village, Myene Parish in Myene Sub-county, was reportedly struck several times on the head by his son, Ambrose Oyet, before he was pronounced dead at a nearby clinic.

The incident occurred on April 29, 2026, and was reported to Minakulu Town Council Police Station on Thursday by a local resident, Santo Okodi.

North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema said preliminary investigations indicate that the dispute stemmed from a phone the deceased believed contained funds he was expecting.
