Uganda, April 8 -- The judiciary has rolled out a plea bargain session in the Kampala Metropolitan area targeting 2,000 cases by the end of July this year.

The non-capital plea bargain drive is part of the judiciary's move to tackle case backlogs and prison congestion through expeditious dispensation of justice.

It will run in all magistrate courts across Kampala, including Buganda Road, Law Development Centre (LDC) Court, City Hall, Nakawa, Mengo, Kajjansi, Nabweru, Kira, Makindye, Nsangi, Mukono, Wakiso, Kasangati, and Kawempe.
