Uganda, May 4 -- Residents and survivors are demanding urgent government intervention following a Sunday afternoon crash on the Mbarara-Bushenyi Road that left one person dead and several others injured.

The crash, involving a heavy truck and a passenger taxi (registration UBE 047S), has reignited concern over the state of the highway and the lack of emergency medical services in the region.

Samuel Ahereza, a survivor who was travelling in a vehicle behind the truck, described the moment of impact, saying, "We seriously survived."

Mr Ahereza added that his vehicle, carrying four adults and three children, nearly veered off the road.
