Uganda, April 27 -- Christopher Okello Onyum, the prime suspect in the murder of four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre, has formally closed his defence in the ongoing trial before the High Court.

The development came on Monday morning after the defence abandoned plans to call two additional witnesses, citing failure to trace them.

Defence lawyer Mr Richard Kumbuga told the mobile High Court session presided over by Justice Alice Komuhangi Khaukha that efforts by a court process server to locate the witnesses had proved futile.

"My lord, this matter today was for defence witnesses. I have been informed that the intended witnesses could not be found," Mr Kumbuga said.
