NUP deputy spokesperson Mufumbiro's wife dies amid detention row
Uganda, April 8 -- Uganda's opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi said on Wednesday that the wife of a senior party official had died after a prolonged illness, raising fresh criticism over the continued detention of opposition figures.
Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, said Edith Katende Mufumbiro, the wife of the National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, died shortly after 3:00am following what he described as a "hard-fought battle with cancer."
"At the time of her passing, her dear husband Waiswa remains detained at Luzira Upper Prison for no crime whatsoever," Bobi Wine wrote on X.
