Uganda, April 22 -- The head of HIV prevention at the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) has said Uganda has enough condoms in stores and those in the pipeline that would shield the country from immediate price hikes.
Dr Daniel Byamukama, the UAC head of HIV prevention, was commenting on a new media report that Malaysia's Karex, the world's top condom producer, plans to raise prices by around 30 percent if supply chain disruptions persist due to the war in Iran.
"We have enough condom stock and in the pipeline that we shall not be immediately affected," he told the Monitor when asked whether he sees immediate effects on condom prices and access in Uganda. He didn't provide figures for the quantity available in the country.
