Uganda, May 4 -- Leaders in Nebbi District have launched the distribution of reusable sanitary pads to schools in a bid to boost attendance and reduce dropout rates among girls.
A total of 15,748 reusable sanitary pads will be distributed to 103 government-aided primary schools and nine secondary schools, targeting about 35,000 learners across the district.
Speaking at the flag-off, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Paul Bwire, said the initiative is intended to support girls who begin menstruation while at school and aligns with Ministry of Education guidance.
