Uganda, April 17 -- Nansana Municipal Council has developed a by-law to govern the management and disposal of waste in adherence to environmental guidelines.

The draft under the Nansana Municipal Council waste management by-law 2024 comes amid concerns of improper disposal of domestic and commercial waste, which is reportedly clogging drainage channels and causing repeated flooding.

"We have seen most of our roads being flooded and clogged with plastics; people are illegally dumping waste, failing to pay for waste collection, yet waste generation is a continuous activity," Ms Stella Nalumansi, the Nansana Senior Environment Officer, told this publication.
