Uganda, April 28 -- Bukono County MP-elect Persis Namuganza has accused Parliament Speaker Anita Annet Among of exploiting the name of Uganda's military chief and First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to mobilise support for her Speakership bid in the upcoming 12th Parliament.

The allegations stem from a recent dinner held in Kampala, which had been billed as part of activities to support Gen Muhoozi's forthcoming birthday run.

However, Ms Namuganza claimed the event was instead turned into a political platform targeting Members of Parliament-elect.

Speaking after the event, Namuganza, who is also vying for the Speakership, said the gathering was selectively organised for MPs-elect and questioned its true intention.
