Museveni orders Sovereignty Bill review after public uproar
Uganda, April 30 -- President Museveni on Thursday called for the review of the Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026, after public uproar, arguing that the legislation in its current form "meanders in the areas of the freedom of Private enterprise transfers or private money transfers or church donations."
The government claims the Bill introduced to Parliament on April 15, 2026 seeks to safeguard Uganda's national interests and self-governance by regulating foreign influence and funding.
