Uganda, May 1 -- The Police Marine Unit, with support from local divers, has recovered three more bodies from River Nguse, bringing the total number of bodies retrieved to six, authorities said on Friday.
The search operation, which began on Tuesday, entered its third day amid reports that more than 30 people drowned when a canoe capsized.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victims had been returning home from charcoal-burning activities in Bugoma Forest and were transporting several bags of charcoal.
The incident occurred at around 8:00pm on Tuesday on River Nguse, which separates Kagadi and Kikuube districts.
No bodies were recovered on the first day of the search.
