Uganda, May 6 -- Fire on Tuesday night gutted two furniture workshops located along Kampala-Mityana Highway in Bunwe village, Buloba, in Wakiso district owners in losses.

The fire is suspected to have been sparked by a short circuit in one of the electric meter boxes near a utility pole at Veron Wood Gallery Limited before spreading to other furniture showrooms. It severely affected Timber World and Veron Wood Gallery Limited, razing all items to ashes.

Mr Grace Nsubuga, the proprietor of Veron Wood Gallery Limited, said all his machines used in manufacturing furniture, timber, and timber products, amounting to Shs500 million, were destroyed.
