Uganda, April 28 -- A mob on Tuesday morning lynched a suspected motorcycle thief in Zigoti Town Council, Mityana District, police said.

The deceased was identified as Bruno Sekito, 36, a resident of Kabagolo A village in Kikonge parish.

According to Wamala Region Police spokesperson Lamech Kigozi, the incident occurred at about 6:00 am in Mabuye-Kabalungi Village along the Mityana-Kampala Highway after the suspect allegedly attempted to steal a motorcycle.

"The suspect tried to escape but boda-boda riders gave chase and intercepted him. Attempts by the area LC1 chairperson to stop the mob proved futile. We do not condone mob justice," Kigozi said in a statement.
