Uganda, April 7 -- Police in Kassanda District have arrested a 60-year-old man to assist with investigations into the murder of a 61-year-old woman who had recently won a protracted land dispute in court.

The deceased, identified as Phoebe Nalugwa, a resident of Kizibawo Village in Bukuya sub-county, was found dead in her bedroom on April 6 under circumstances police describe as "gruesome and premeditated."

According to Wamala Region Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi, the victim had been embroiled in a land conflict before the Mubende Chief Magistrate's Court with some of the suspects now under investigation.
