Uganda, April 28 -- Leaders from government, the private sector and the United Nations have sounded the alarm over persistent workplace safety risks, urging faster, more coordinated action to protect workers and strengthen accountability across institutions.
The call came during a Private Sector Dialogue on safe, respectful and survivor-centred workplaces held on April 27, 2026 at the Sheraton Hotel Kampala, ahead of International Labour Day.
Representing the UN Resident Coordinator, the UNAIDS Country Director in Uganda, Ms Jacqueline Makokha, warned that unsafe workplaces undermine both human dignity and economic progress.
