Uganda, April 8 -- Vulnerable youths who graduate from the Lango Zonal Presidential Youth Skilling Hub will now access startup capital after State House injected Shs550 million into district-based SACCOs aimed at supporting them to acquire tools of trade.

The hub, located at Lira University, was constructed in 2020 and officially commissioned by President Museveni in January 2025. It has so far enrolled five intakes, training about 1,200 youths aged between 18 and 35 years in vocational skills.

Each of the nine districts, one city and one municipality in the Lango sub-region receives 21 slots per intake, totalling about 240 trainees per cohort.
